The STORY
Shoelace started as a label by artists, for artists. We have a simple premise of giving artists complete creative freedom.
Shoelace started in 1995 as Shoelace Music, a small label that was home to the releases of popular blues artist Otis Taylor, publishing 5 Billboard charting albums by him. In 2007 we co-published the Shooter motion picture album produced by Mark Mancina, who is also well known for his numerous contributions to film music, including music for productions like Tarzan, Bad Boys, and Criminal Minds. Over the past 2 decades Shoelace has contributed to the publishing of numerous releases by many artists. In 2022, Shoelace joined Universal Music Group as a label subsidiary.
